Dental Implants in Arizona
MrGuy is reviewing his experience with getting a dental implant.
After having a root canal and crow fail after 12 years, MrGuy's main Gilbert Arizona Dentist presented him with the options.
--------------------
It was either a bridge that would affect 3 teeth, or a dental implant the would only affect one. The implant was the more expensive choice but made the most sense. It was the front eye tooth being worked on so the aesthetics of an implant would be better than a bridge.
A dental implant is a titanium screw that is screwed into a drilled socket in your bone. Your bone and the titanium become one and form a solid base for a crown. Titanium is used a lot now in body part replacement surgery.
I showed up to the oral surgeons office and was shown a movie about implants and the risks associated with them. Most people go under sedation to the have this procedure done but I decided after seeing you can die from that, I would tough it out and just go with Novocain. They all looked a little surprised.
Actually, the most painful part was getting the shot in the upper roof of my mouth. Once numb, I did not feel any pain but it was not very fun sitting there having them chisel in my mouth with a chisel and a mallet and then drill straight into my bone.
I was pretty sore when I left and took 800mg motrins which took the edge off.
For several days after, my gums where they stitched them up was and is still tender. I was able to have a temporary put on the dental implant while we are waiting for the bone to heal so I can't wait until it's all over with.
If your thinking about getting implants, I suggest you go ahead and get the sedative.
