Taco Casserole Recipe
1 lb ground beef
1 small chopped onion
1 bottle (8oz) taco sauce
3/4 cup water
1 can (4oz) diced green chiles
1 Tbsp taco seasoning mix
1 pkg (12 count) taco shells, broken, divided
2 cups (8 oz) mexican cheese
Garnish suggestion: sour cream
Preheat oven to 375 F. Grease 8 x 11 baking dish. Cook beef and onion in large skillet until beef is browned; drain. Stir in taco sauce, water, green chiles and taco seasoning: bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low; cook, stirring occasionally, for 3 to 4 minutes. Layer half of broken shells on bottom of prepared baking dish. Cover with half of meat mixture; sprinkle with one cup cheese. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until bubbly and cheese is melted.
